DuettoFX EAs 28

Less than two months ago we released a new indicator/trading strategy named “DuettoFX” and there are already hundreds of traders using it everyday. Probably it’s the most successful indicator we released so far :)

Everything in DuettoFX is related to the number 2. We use two pairs to have our entry/exit signals, we enter two trades and now we have developed two EAs both based on the same core strategy but with a different trading approach: the “Dynamic Lot Sizing” and the “Swing” strategies.

The basic idea is the same: take two currencies that are inverserly correlated (that is they move in opposite directions most of the time) and trade them by using the “crosses” between their relative strengths. Very simple but powerful as every single entry comes from double signals so it is particularly strong and reliable. They don’t happen often but when they do, we know that most of the times we’ll make money out of them.

Why two strategies? Because we’ve found that this basic idea can be traded in many different ways. Those two are the ones that we’ve found working well for us.

After we released the DuettoFX Indicator some weeks ago and a lot of people started to make real profit with it from day one. The DuettoFX “DLS” and “Swing” EAs are made to help those people make even more profits, and to allow profiting from DuettoFX also people who don’t have the time to stay in front of charts.

But what can you expect from trading DuettoFX EAs?

We tested DuettoFX over a 25 months period and results are impressive:

over 1.000 pips per month on average using the basic strategy trading 5 “duettos”
very low drawdown. Most of the times DuettoFX gets into profit almost immediately after the entry signal

We also showed in detail 8 simple trades scoring around 1.000 pips overall during last February and March on EURUSD only. And they were only a small fraction of the many winning trades we personally entered thanks to DuettoFX.

Now everything has been automated.

We also improved the “basic” strategies with new and better performing strategies like the “Wave Trailing” for the DLS strategy that we’ve seen helps incredibly in banking profits by using a sinusoidal function to normalize the DLS lot sizes.

As you know due to MT4 platform limits we can’t backtest performances of a multi-currency strategy like DuettoFX‘s one. So we had to “port” the DuettoFX EAs to other platforms and backtest them.

Here are just a few examples of some backtests we performed on the JForex platform:

This first chart shows the DLS Trader EA Trading ONLY on EURUSD (using signals from EURUSD/USDCHF) with the new “Wave Trailing” function: +700 pips in one year and on just one side of a single “duetto”.

The second chart shows the Swing Trader EA trading EURUSD only using the same strategy we used to score some of the best trades lately. This backtest confirms that the strategy is rock solid over an extended period of time.

40 trades in one year and +2172 pips (for EURUSD only) but we know that the same strategy works very well for AUUSD and USDCAD.

Third chart, Swing trader again. This is an “always in the Market” approach. Same period as the previous chart on EURUSD. 40 trades and +1601 pips but using a semi-automatic approach we could have made much much more by simply looking at the DuettoFX indicator divergences that as we know can be very reliable and forecast trend changes.

The last one is Swing Trader but with fixed stop loss and take profit. Even with a very simple approach like that DuettoFX is proofing to be reliable and profitable.  +1163 pips on EURUSD only. Probably this strategy approach can work very well even on lower timeframes than the default one (1H) for example on the 15M.

Those are just a few examples of what the DuettoFX EAs can do for you.

Default settings are made for EAs to be applied to 1H charts. But the EA can be applied to any timeframe even if we suggest you to stay with default settings and timeframe. We also provide you with a list of pairs that perform best based on our backtests and experience. But you are not tied to use them only and the EAs (as the indicator) can be applied to any couple of currency pairs (and to any timeframe).

here I read that to setup with defaults(period 120) at 1Hour Chart.
On other duettofx_site I read that best is 4Hour chart with period 90.
So I have all settings at 4H-Chart with period 90 and installed yesterday morning and no trade was done…is this correct?(all currencies are attached you have in other list)..

    • Paolo

      Hi Hans,
the only timeframe we recommend at the moment is H1. You probably read a comment related to the best value for “period” which obviously depends on the timeframe. On that occasion we may have said that 90 may suit better the 4H timeframe. But the H1 with period 120 still is the one you should use, at least in the beginning. Ciao, Paolo

It’s my sincere hope that you guys can post a ‘best settings’ page for each of the 2 EA’s (If default is best, then nevermind :-)

It also would be helpful if we could get some guidelines on what settings/pairs to trade based on varying account sizes. I plan on starting with 1k on (2) separate accounts, and would like to know your opinion on what settings/pairs I should start out with for each EA. Please email me or post a reply here.

    Hi Andrea & Paolo,
As Paul said, it’s preferable to have some setting for certain TF (H1, H4 & D1).
I think it’s better than the explanation in the manual. Sometime, it’s difficult to interpret or understand the meaning and significance of some parameters. Regards

Since Monday both Duetto EAs losing money – 40 losing trades and only 9 tiny wins for net loss of $60 on default setting trading all recommended pairs.
USDCHF trades, the worst performer, don’t show Expert comment name, only a number which does not relate to anything.?

  • Andrew

Hi Paolo, in answer to Paul you said you were adding stuff to the Manual. So I have now checked and see the suggested portfolios – very helpful. I am registered as a Duetto FX user and I thought that meant that we would be advised of any updates in EAs or Manuals. I received the EA update notifications but not the Manual Update notification. Could you pls do that in future so we don’t miss out on important information.
    Thx, Andrew

The only time I make some money with Potenza and Duetto (I run them both on the same account using two platforms) is when I take the profits when i see them. I know the adage is to “let your profits run” but it seems that when i do this I invariably go from some $50 to $100 floating profit to losing $90 as I did again last night – a swing of over $150 into the red.

Do you have any views on this? And is there any problem with closing out any of the trades manually irrespective of whether there are Scale-Ins?

    • Paolo

Hi Andrew, I’ve just replied to a similar comment by another trader. I’m implementing a very loose trailing stop on DuettoFX Swing Trader EA, so that at least a winning trade does not turn out as a big loser in the end. The system works out even without trailing stop, as shown on this post: http://pimpmyea.com/1000-pips-per-month-with-a-single-indicator/. However I understand it is difficult to see trades going into the red so badly. Unfortunately backtesting a trailing stop is not easy nor fast, and only a backtest can tell if a trailing stop is really effective in improving the overall performance of the system. I’ll try to do my best in this regard.

    Hi Paolo
I have had DuttoFX EA for 2 weeks now. DLS has not taken a trade yet and Swing 7 trades showing 100 pips loss. I am using eurusd/usdchf and audusd/usdcad. All look to be installed ok with smily faces. can you advise please

    • Paolo

Hi Dennis, the behavior of DLS is not correct, there must be some problem on your platform (maybe an invalid lot size error). The Swing trader is working fine if you can see 7 trades. Price is congested on most pairs, that’s why we have a drawdown phase. It’s the same on my accounts. Please read at the bottom of this page for a figure of a typical max dd you can expect: http://pimpmyea.com/duettofx-swing-trader-ea-manual/

      • Dennis

        Hi Paolo
regarding DLS not working. I’m not sure what you mean by (maybe an invalid lot size error). all imputs are default. all ticks in common are correct. I have another EA running on my MT4 platform ok.
I can send you a picture of the chart by email if it helps

        • Paolo

Hi Dennis, an invalid lot size error can happen with DLS default settings if your broker does not allow trading microlots but only minilots. Of course you can send an email to receive further support. Ciao, Paolo

  • Dennis

I sent an email to support 1 week ago but have had no reply
I am very conserned about Duetto ea poor performance
for most of the 6 weeks I’ve had it it either does not work or loses money
also when I have to shut down my computer for updates etc. I have to reinstall the ea onto every chart and reset all the imputs which is very frustrating and time consuming.
My request for a refund has obviously fell on deaf ears.
I am now going to contact paypal
I don’t expect you publish this

    • Paolo

Hi Dennis, I just checked our inbox and there is no email sent from your email address apart from the automatic PayPal notification of payment on April the 4th. You have tested the EAs for 4 weeks and you are sure they do not work. Sadly this is how most retail traders loose money, jumping from one system to another. I’ve written the expect drawdown with the suggested portfolios described in the EA manuals is 20% for an expected yearly return of 100%. The demo account I started with DuettoFX Swing Trader on April the 8th has suffered a max equity drawdown of 5% and it is now almost at breakeven. Regarding the need of applying the EA to each chart after a restart please note 2 things: 1) it is only a side-effect of using the Guardian protection system, which we are replacing soon; 2) EAs should run on a “stable” environment (like a VPS or a dedicated PC that needs to be restarted once per week at most).
We don’t have any refund policy. We keep prices very low because we don’t want to deal with refunds. We have issued some refunds in the past based on our discretion. Ciao, Paolo

  • Dennis

    ok thanks for that
I will persevere then. lets hope you can replace this Guardian soon
funny I’ve never been able to contact you through email going back to Crescendo

  • John

Any news on these EA’s being released without Guardian? I bought the DuettoFX Indicator in February but I am waiting for the indicator and EA’s to be available without Guardian which I refuse to use.

    • Andrea Post author

      Ciao John,

we are almost done with the new solution. Today we’ll release the first indicator set with the new protection. If everything goes well as we expect, we’ll port everything we made so far to the new solution.

In any case, if you contacted us we should have found a solution to that. If you’ve done so, we’d surely found a solution. Paolo is sending you an email to you at the moment.

  • John

I was hoping that some of your clients will show MyFXbook statements so we can compare the results. So far not a single trade? Or is there some another site where you showing your results? Also I was hoping to see your live account where you trading with DuetoFX.
Nothing….don’t know what to thing. Is is trading at all?
I have just set up my new broker and I’m ready to buy the DuetoFX, but not a single trader with
results, I probably wait until I see some trades.

  • Alan

Hi, Please would you take a look at myfxbook account.

As you can see in a trending market the ea works well but in consolidation it needs improving. It keeps adding loosing trades after loosing trades !

Are you looking to improve this, or do you see this in your accounts? It would be great to see myfxbook links to the DuettoFX accounts you have as to at least see that its working correctly?

Also Do you have any ideas pending, to improve this ea?

    • Paolo

Dear Alan, you can give a look to the current performance of the Swing Trader on the left column of the home page. After the last big Sunday gap performances have been really poor. However we know this sort of things happen, since the backtests clearly show drawdown phases as for any strategy. Please check the “money management” sections at the end of the User’s Manuals to be sure you are replicating our suggested portfolio. I’m still running live on my account the DuettoFX Swing Trader EA despite recent losses, as I’m confident it will come back in profit. Nevertheless I have some ideas on how to improve both DuettoFX EAs and I’m going to test them after the last ReticoloFX major update is finally out.
