Don’t Update To MT4 Build 600, Yet! 12

Hi Everyone,

this is a very short notice regarding the latest MetaTrader 4 build 600. We know from the official forum at MetaQuotes that “All custom executable EX4 files created by old MQL4 compiler will be automatically moved to the new Navigator directory and will work in the new terminal the same way as before”, however the new build may cause problems to Renko charts because of the different position assigned to the data of offline charts.

So you are strongly encouraged – especially if you use the RenkoLiveCharts EA and HART EA – to deny this update. Just click the “No” button if you see MT4 prompting you with the following window (this is the window that pops up if your operating system is Windows 7, it may be different on another OS):

MT4_update_screen

We’ll keep you updated regarding the correct way to run Renko Charts and other EAs on MT4 build 600.

Very timely advice re MT4 build 600. Over the last two days I have read a lot about the mess and mayhem this build creates on your platforms. The build appears to be a disaster. One reason appears to be the way the build tries to integrate MT4 and MT5
At the moment I think it wiser to make sure you do not update.2

Yes, at the moment we suggest not to update too. Our suggestion is to enable the “User Account Control” functionality in Windows 7 or Windows 8. Doing so the user should be able to deny the automatic update that is triggered by MT4.

      Ciao Peter,
we’d like to be advised about the release of new build as well but Metaquotes is not that kind. So we know them AFTER they happen like any other users.
We have a solution and about to make it public in the coming hours.
      Check it out!

    Hi Guys,

Unfortunately my Demo account platform was updated automatically to Build 600 during a reboot of my VPS. Onda FX is still working and trading as usual, However, it does seem to have impacted the performance of the EA, as my equity has been reducing quickly since the update.

How soon do you think you will have a version of the Renko charting for Build 600 available? I was going to try and rollback my platform to an earlier build, but as it’s a demo account, I’m happy to wait if you will be releasing an Build 600 update soon.

    Thanks,
    Tim

      Ciao Tim,
we are working on a solution for Build 600 issues and we are very near to a solution. We are recoding a video with the solution right now and we’ll make everything available in the coming hours.
      So stay tuned!
      Cheers,
      Andrea

Thanks guys – look forward to implementing your solution.

If my experience (many wasted evenings this week trying to re-configure my platforms) is anything to go by, I’m sure alot of people are cursing metaquotes right now. Releasing such a massive update without adequate notification and testing is unthinkable.

        Cheers,
        Tim

          Hi Tim,
I agree with you. Discussing the new release in the forums is not enough. The end users (who don’t necessarily read forums) should have been notified largely in advance. Moreover MetaQuotes should have provided an easy way for postponing this update.

          • Tim

I couldn’t agree more Paolo. Seems like they just do what they think is best, and don’t care too much about the impact on the end user.

Anyway, thanks for providing us with such a timely solution.

            Cheers,
            Tim
